William Russell Craig, seven, died after a 22 caliber revolver discharged during lunch play at 1864 Dewey in Butte. Police report notes the Gustafson boy’s father owned the gun. the accident occurred in the kitchen as the boy played with toys. Coroner Andy Aleksich found no clear motive for an inquest. The Gustafson boy alerted neighbors and police.

Kalispell resident Howard Milton Johnson 40 pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge W D Murray to embezzling about 3015 dollars from Kalispell Local 371 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. Johnson admitted taking funds between September 14 1959 and June 30 1961 while serving as clerk and dispatcher. The Landrum Griffin Act carries up to five years and a 10000 dollar fine.

Typhoid Case at State Hospital Seeks Source Aid
Dr. John G. Freeman of the State Hospital at Warm Springs asked the Montana State Health Dept. for help tracing a typhoid fever case diagnosed Tuesday in a patient who has been ill about two weeks. The wing housing 235 patients has been semi isolated for two months due to a tuberculosis case.
