In Tunis and Switzerland secret talks will begin to end the Algerian revolt. France seeks a peace of neither victor nor vanquished granting Algeria political self-determination under de Gaulle policy. Many expect eventual independence for Algeria led by the FLN, though Sahara, European minority, and base issues loom.
In Washington the five hour Rusk Gromyko session aimed at ending Laos crisis yielded no immediate progress. The joint statement spoke of better mutual understanding and consideration of outstanding problems including UN issues disarmament Berlin Congo and possible future talks between Kennedy and Khrushchev.
Pro Communist Pathet Lao rebels press toward Luang Prabang as artillery reach 22 miles from the royal capital and advance 36 miles north along the Queen Astrid Highway. Rebels deploy 8,000 to 10,000 troops after rapid March 7 gains at Sala Phou Koun junction.
Interest grows for a Webster-Garfield School Auditorium town meeting on April 1 to discuss the school board election. Four candidates, two seats, will answer league-posed questions on district problems, curriculum progress, partisanship, staff incentives, and board non partisanship under moderator Dr. S L Groff.

Los Angeles AP report: convict Joe Morgan who helped 11 inmates escape from Los Angeles County jail asks Superior Court to return his artificial leg. Deputies removed the limb after recapture following the February 24 break. Morgan, 32, is linked to concealing tools in the leg and has escaped custody before. A hearing is slated for Wednesday.
Nearly 200 students from nine high schools and one junior high will exhibit at the sixth annual Butte Regional Science Fair held Friday and Saturday at the Civic Center. Awards include medals, scholarships, and trips to the National and State science fairs, with judging Friday night.
Butte voters head to the polls Monday for a four way treasurer race and aldermanic contests across eight wards. 19 precincts will use voting machines from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Primary lists 13 899 qualified voters and 7 051 freeholders eligible for April 3 general on the Montana Power Co gas franchise extension. Candidates include Joseph F. ONeill Dan J. Shea Helen Prendergast and Terry Keating for treasurer. incumbents and challengers vie in wards one through eight with platforms centered on city economy recreation and youth programs.

Shea leads the race as the city resumes ballots after years without contests.
Mrs. Oshla Kambich of Melrose turns 100 after a life begun in Austria and homesteading near Melrose since 1864. She recalls Glendale and the old Glendale rink, rears eight children, has 23 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren, and stays active with garden work and household tasks while enjoying television and faith.
