Havana stayed quiet as Batista refused to yield to Fidel Castro and civic demands. Castro warned of a decisive fight if Batista resigns by early April. Civic groups called for a provisional government and a general strike, crippling business and halting events.
A 37 year old Helena roofing salesman was charged in Lewis and Clark County District Court with receiving stolen property a felony tied to illegal Montana auto license tabs. He was held on a 500 dollar bond. FBI tests show a dozen tabs matched samples from the Montana Prison tab factory.
An authority from the Mayo Clinic says foods digest better when eaten with another item. Milk, for instance, digests more thoroughly with food than when consumed alone. The notice adds that Want Ads should be placed separately to reach the right buyers, phone 5451.
Government surveys indicate farmers plan to plant about 333 million acres this season, the smallest since 1917. Production may not fall proportionally due to moisture, idling programs, and shifting crops toward food grains and soybeans.

Thomas 0. Larson, 83, 1936 U S Senate Republican nominee and brief acting Montana governor in 1918, died Tuesday at Choteau Hospital. A longtime state senator and leader in livestock groups, he sponsored the Blue Sky law and helped form three northern Montana counties. He was born in Norway in 1874, married to Helena Stowe in 1902, and survived by two daughters and a sister. Funeral plans are to be announced in Choteau.
In Elliot Lake Ontario a 35 foot green and white trailer yielded the bodies of a mother and two young daughters with throats slashed. Roland Sabourin, 30, former mine worker, identified by police as the killer, is charged with murder after calling Detroit saying he was haunted by the act.
Montana east sees partly cloudy skies with warmer spells then colder snow chances northeast and north central Wednesday night. West remains mostly cloudy with showers or flurries over mountains and minimal temperature shifts through Thursday.
A fourth Conrad area resident died of asphyxiation in a week. Alan Jannusch 15 died at a Dupuyer farm home while his brother Billy 17 was unconscious in hospital. Emmet Sullivan aided Billy with oxygen until an ambulance arrived. Coroner Wyse cited a gas stove as the cause in three more deaths nearby.
Donald Folstrom, 27, a former Butte Hill employee, is named among four killed in a Grand Canyon National Park auto wreck Sunday night. Folstrom, of 216 E. Park, Chicago birth date Jan 6 1931, was a family friend. The Elwood family perished as a rain slicked State Highway 64 car struck a tree.
A French spokesman reports a Tuesday ambush 60 miles south of Algiers against a large Algerian rebel group. Initial tallies indicate more than 110 rebels killed. no French losses reported.
