More than 200 attendees from Butte and western Montana gathered at the Finlen hotel for the annual Friendly Sons of St Patrick banquet. The program opened with the Star Spangled Banner and the Soldiers Song, as red white blue bunting and a large shamrock framed the speakers’ table. Father Rooney gave the invocation, with toastmaster Joseph J. McCaffery Jr. presiding. Speakers included James F. O'Brien, Father Anthony Brown, George F. Higgins, and Federal Judge W. D. Murray, with telegrams read in tribute.

Butte and Silver Bow county residents contributed over 15000 to the 1951 Red Cross drive with 15104.70 reported at the drive headquarters on West Broadway. Booths downtown and employer support boosted totals though many envelopes remain unreturned. Donations remain open at Chamber of Commerce offices and local banks with 40 percent staying in Butte for Silver Bow county work and 60 percent sent to national headquarters.
