Irish born residents in Butte mark Saint Patrick's Day with a special mass at St Patrick church packed to capacity. Rev James P O Shea, native of the Auld Sod, delivered the sermon. A marching band played martial music after the sermon. A large dance followed at Hibernia hall Centerville as old timers recollect earlier celebrations. Over 30 priests from various Butte churches and Helena diocese attended.

Guayule Rubber Production Starts in Salinas Valley
Salinas Calif March 17 Production of natural rubber from guayule began at the Spence mill five miles south of Salinas. Officials said the first carload will be shipped to the Rubber Reserve corporation next week. It marks the United States first large scale guayule plant in operation. Rubber yield figures were not released though a sizable increase in the nation's supply is anticipated.
