Kennedy marches amid mixed reception in New York
Senator Kennedy drew a mixed reception on Fifth Avenue as anti Kennedy sentiment mixed with cheers during his St Patrick's Day march. Police blocked crowds while Kennedy greeted supporters including Mrs Kennedy and John Jr before being whisked away. In Washington a separate report notes a big break in the copper strike as United Steelworkers approve a settlement with Phelps Dodge ending one front of the eight month labor dispute though other unions must accept before the walkout ends.
