Two massive brush fires swept through foothill suburbs of Los Angeles driven by 65 to 70 mph winds. Authorities reported 16 houses destroyed with estimates from 30 or more damaged or burned. several communities were ordered to evacuate as fires neared Glendale Burbank Eagle Rock Pasadena and La Canada. Firefighters fought through the gusts as Gov Brown considered disaster declaration and total area burned reached about 6100 acres by nightfall.
