Arnold seeks remaining term on state Supreme Court

Missoula March 16 Associate Justice Ralph L Arnold of the State Supreme Court announced he will seek the remaining four years of the six year term filled after the death of Samuel V Stewart Arnold was appointed September 19 to replace Stewart and he plans to file within two weeks He previously served as a Fourth Judicial district judge and had been Missoula mayor and a practicing lawyer.

Penknife operation fails to save Spokane boy

In Spokane on March 16 7 year old Danny Novich died from a severe throat infection after an emergency penknife operation to open the airway. Dr R E B Stuard performed the procedure at the home with a metal tube for breathing. the boy lived eight hours. Dr M H Querna called the operation a success and cited rapid breathing after artificial respiration. The father R D Novich had given permission due to lack of time to fetch surgical instruments.

Palm distribution and Holy Week observances across churches

Palms will be distributed in Catholic churches today marking Holy Week. Statues and holy pictures were draped and will remain so until Holy Saturday noon. No bells will sound all week.
