Trustees proposed an 18% mill levy add on top of the regular tax to raise 563,890.06 for elementary and high school maintenance and operations for 1962 63. Bond issues of 350 000 would fund Whittier and Greeley expansions, with a 20 year term and variable annual principal reductions.
Billings Mayor Carl J. Clavadetscher resigns to join the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. He will be stationed in Great Falls after a May 2 start in Washington and a probationary period in San Francisco.

The House passed a $325 million welfare reform bill aligning with President Kennedy plans while boosting welfare payments by 140 million. GOP attempts to strike extra aid failed 231 to 156. final passage was 319 to 69. Montana would gain about 442000 in federal funds.
