Olds of Butte seeks state post on Railroad and Public Service Commission
Helena AP report says Robert J. Olds a Butte real estate broker and insurance man filed Thursday for the Republican nomination to Montana's Railroad and Public Service Commission. He paid a $105 filing fee to Secretary of State Frank Murray and becomes the third official candidate for the post currently held by Republican Ernest C. Steel. Steel, 70, seeks re election. Democrat candidate Hen is also filed.

Senate frees gold cover for currency in 39 to 37 vote

The measure, approved 39 to 37, would free about $11.4 billion in gold to support dollar convertibility at $35 an ounce and end a 55 year old requirement. Nixon claims millions to back GOP in November vote

Nonviolent Marine hero dies in Japan hospital
