Double murder of mother and daughter near Butte

Marjorie McQuiston and her daughter Nancy were missing and later found dead northwest of Butte. They had been shot and brutally beaten with no suspects in custody. Investigators ruled out sexual assault and sought motives amid rumors as the coroner planned further examinations.

Murder Scene Ends Frantic Search In Butte Area

The bodies of Mrs. Marjorie McQuiston and her daughter Nancy were found mauled and in a ditch atop a knoll in Big Butte. A 17-year-old girl, JoAnn Kankelborg, remains missing as police and posse members search the area.

President Johnson appeals for prayers amid tornado flood damage

President Johnson urged the nation to pray for victims as he toured Midwest disaster scenes.
