Escaped Viet Cong hostage killed in jungle after seven days
Joseph W. Grainger, 39, of Sumter South Carolina and U S economic aid official in Phu Yen Province was captured August 8. He escaped a swamp and after seven days was recaptured and shot Jan 12. His death, condemned as murder, prompted calls for adherence to international law. Gustav C Hertz of Leesburg Va remains in Viet Cong captivity.

Regents Award $2000 Raises for Two Montana University Presidents

Butte Man Questioned In Girl Disappearance
A 24 year old Butte man linked to Jo Ann Kankelborg, 17, who vanished Friday, was jailed for questioning on a contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge. He says they rode together and he dropped her near her home. he gave wine to the girl and has not spoken since.
