In Emporia Kansas on March 11 four hunters were wounded during Lyon county wolf drive. One hunter fractured the right leg from a shotgun blast another sustained a chest wound and punctured lung a third was shot in the knee and a fourth received a blast to the left leg.
Senator Ellender said the Senate labor committee abandoned the Case strike control bill in favor of a new plan centered on an independent federal mediation board. The substitute aims to restore confidence among management labor and the public and includes a three step plan to prevent industrial strife. Chairman Murray said a formal statement on the new bill would come later.
London dispatch reports singer Vera Lynn welcomed a daughter this week. The singer known for high earnings paused her career this year, with an estimated 300000 dollars in lost earnings attributed to the baby’s birth. The child is a girl.
Washington March 11. A drastic order curbing commercial construction in favor of houses is planned along with Senate moves to restore housing subsidy features rejected by the House. Housing Administrator Wy at says the order will be issued in days and will affect thousands of nonresidential projects. Senate leaders plan to push subsidy and price ceiling proposals as part of a drive to build 2,700,000 homes in 1946 and 1947 with government subsidies and a practical regulation approach.

Dr. Frank Tyler coroner said Mrs. Madelle Brasher 33 formerly a church organist apparently drowned herself early Monday after drowning her two small daughters Louise Lynn 3 and Sally Ann 6. Louise’s body was found near Silver creek mouth, Sally Ann still missing. the Brasher car was on a Silver creek bridge and footsteps led into the water.
The United States rejects Russia’s claim of a breach in the Moscow Bulgaria pact. Secretary Byrnes says the issue is the genuine representation and authority of opposition figures. Britain and the US say they consulted Moscow while Moscow criticizes the unilateral move.
In Washington on March 11 advocates for civilian control of atomic energy pressed their case as Senate atomic energy committee members debated Brien McMahon's plan for a five member civilian control commission. Sen. Arthur Vandenberg proposed handing broad powers to a presidentially appointed military board that would review all defense related atomic matters and force consultation before the commission could act. The plan reportedly has strong committee backing as McMahon offers a compromise: a military civilian board to share decision making while preserving civilian oversight.
Gen Homer W Kiefer veteran Pacific commander will speak to Butte leaders March 22 in a luncheon sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. Maj H C McKnight says aim is to stress a strong regular Army for peace. Kiefer, now at Fort Lewis, returned from 54 months overseas including Japan.

The United Auto Workers ordered the Ford contract back for renegotiation while a GM strike drew unity from union leaders in response to charges that union politics delay settlements. The Ford council sought changes to a productivity clause, favoring company union talks to set production schedules, and kept the 18 cent hourly wage rise.
The OPA approved adjustable pricing for Chrysler Ford and Hudson cars allowing sales at current ceilings with potential post sale charges if ceilings rise. An agency spokesman gave no figure on possible increases and said announcements would come soon.

Restaurants and hotels should limit flour to two pounds per customer weekly and reduce fats by 20 percent. Households should cut wheat purchases to 60 percent and fats by 20 percent.
Detroit March 11 U P Robet R Wason president of the National Association of Manufacturers praised General Motors for resisting the United Auto Workers strike. He told the Detroit Economic club that GM's stand saved American enterprise and criticized the Truman administration for yielding to unions in advance of votes.
Genevieve Bohard a 30 year old mother of five died from a chest wound in what her husband Wesley Bohard a Northwest Freight Lines driver called an accidental shooting. He said she went to retrieve guns while he outside with their dog then heard a shot and found her on the bed room floor with a .38 revolver nearby. A doctor arrived too late. The couple married last May. Her son Jerry Kimball Jr. six from a prior marriage drowned here a year ago. The house they lived in was sold Monday morning.
