Woman Killed in Icy Auto Crash Near Anaconda

Mrs. Cora Bell Sullivan 53 of Gregson was killed when her car collided head on with Dr W J Sullivan of Butte three miles east of Anaconda after skidding on a snow iced highway. Dr Sullivan and son were treated. another driver also struck the wreckage.

Heavy March Snowblanket Hits Highlands South of Butte

A heavy March snowstorm dumped about 18 inches in the Highlands south of Butte while temperatures stayed below freezing. Nine Mile area reported 10 inches with ongoing snowfall last night and slippery highways. The day featured a low of 18 and a high of 27 with 0.03 inch precipitation. Similar unsettled weather was forecast for today with light snow and cloudy skies. German steamer Hannover intercepted near Puerto Rico

London March 10 The 5600 ton German steamer Hannover was intercepted by a British cruiser in Mona channel near Puerto Rico. The Nazi vessel fired and abandoned ship to avoid capture as it sailed from Willestad Netherlands West Indies with ore and lumber bound to run the blockade.

Girl Scouts Close Campaign This Wednesday

Man killed when he falls into ditch in Butte

Edward J. Carroll a 46 year old Belmont miner died from a broken neck after allegedly leaving his South Ohio Street cabin to take a walk and falling into a city WPA ditch at Platinum and Hopkins. Police reported the body found in an 11 foot three inch ditch with no signs of violence aside from neck and facial Bruises. Coroner Don Sheehy said no inquest was needed and investigators noted lights barricades and a night watchman at the closed Hopkins Street trench project site.
