Indians and MPC Plan Two Flathead River Dams

Montana Indians and Montana Power Co announce a joint plan to build two Flathead River dams on the reservation at Buffalo Rapids No 2 and No 4. The $42 million project would have MPC buy power from the tribes and withdraw its license bid, aiming to flood areas near the Knowles Dam proposal which opponents say is unlikely to advance. The tribes and MPC expect to finance the project by borrowing and using power payments to repay the loan with annual interest.

In Hammond Indiana a robber disguised as a woman stole about 87 000 dollars from Brink's Inc guard Marion Zacia 34 then fled in a stolen car with two money bags. The car from East Chicago carried Indiana plates and was abandoned after a gunfire near the Brink's truck.
