Drilling teams close in on trapped Utah miner after seven days
A six inch wide passageway reached miner William Jones in a remote Utah mine 40 miles from Salt Lake City. Crews below Jones continued tunneling from different shafts as officials said blankets and supplies would be pushed through before larger rescue work began. Jones, father of 11, has been trapped since a March 1 cave in left him 20 miles inside the mine.

Malta Soldier Walsh Killed in Vietnam
Truman J. Walsh 20 of Malta was killed in enemy action in Vietnam February 25. He joined the Army June 1968 and arrived in Vietnam in November. He is survived by parents Mr and Mrs Gerald Walsh and three brothers of Zortman. Walsh was the 155th Montana man killed in Southeast Asia.
