Former Anaconda Mayor Thomas J. McCarvel Dies at 80
Thomas J. McCarvel 80, lifelong Anaconda resident and former mayor, died Thursday at St. Ann Hospital after a brief illness. A Democrat, he served as mayor 1936 to 1939, held multiple city and county offices, and was justice of the peace in west Anaconda township. Born Feb 15 1889 in Newbliss Ireland he moved to Anaconda in 1907 and was noted for soccer, fishing and hunting. Surviving: wife Margaret, son and daughter-in-law John McCarvel Great Falls, sons Patrick H Carmichael Calif and Joseph E.
