Consolidation supporters defend the reform as a plain, economical plan for local government. They accuse anti consolidation leaders of mudslinging and attacking banks, the A C M and Judge Lynch while denying the merits of the measure.
Judge J. J. Lynch told Centerville residents at Hibernia hall that merging into the consolidated city and county of Butte could cut fire protection costs from a 10 mill levy. Three meetings followed with speakers Herb Fisher T J Davis and P E Geagan outlining the merger benefits.
A major March blizzard roared through the Rockies driving 1 to 9 inches of snow from Montana to Colorado and Wyoming. High winds created large drifts blocking highways including the Lincoln Highway between Cheyenne and Laramie. Temperatures plunged near zero with Greeley at two above. Snowfall eases drought on Grand Mesa while air travel and bus service were disrupted.
New York reports that Dr. Miller Reese Hutchison, once with Edison, has perfected a pigeon carried camera for wartime use. The device measures 24 by 1 1/2 by 3/4 inches and can enlarge images up to 45 times, touted as highly valuable in war time.
In Hillsboro Oregon a large crowd packed the courthouse as Nelson Bowles 34 and Irma Loucks 28 begin the murder trial for Bowles wife. The jury was seated after three days of selection and opening statements described intimate relations leading to the death in Loucks apartment.
Plans announced by Butte merchants unveil a five day Spring Market Festival linked to the annual Auto Show. March 19 to 23 will feature new spring goods and displays from most local merchants drawing hundreds of residents.
Joseph Stettheimer 82 a longtime Butte resident and mining property figure died in Oceanside California after a paralytic stroke. Cremated in San Diego his ashes were sent to New York following the service.

Lieut. Col. Gustavo Jimenez seized the government in a second bloodless coup amid Peru's tangled civil-military crisis. He and his troops occupied the presidential palace and called for Lieut. Col. Luis M. Sanchez Cerro, the rival who had been ousted in the first coup.

New York March 5. Meyer Epstein's chauffeur ordered 10 cents worth of cheese at Joe Churgin's delicatessen. Churgin charged 12 cents after arguing with the boss. Both shopmen were arraigned on assault charges with $300 bail each for trial in special sessions.
Washington March 5 Bitter dissension split the Democratic National Committee as John J. Raskob urged a home rule plan to amend the constitution allowing state control of liquor with a nationwide referendum while retaining the 18th Amendment. Wets and drys clashed as the committee adopted a special financial plan from John Price Jones Corp.
Rawlins Wyoming March 5 Henry Basil Morris formerly of Rock Springs admitted killing Mrs Anna Rowland Grabe and her four year old daughter Genevieve at Rocks in 1924 The murder trial ended with the admission and District Judge W J Tidball sentenced him to life imprisonment.
A consolidation committee accuses county commissioners of law violations in appointing election judges for the consolidation vote. They claim 90 percent oppose consolidation and demand one judge per precinct for supporters. The board will answer at 3 today or face court action to block payments to judges named improperly.
The Prince of Wales and Prince George arrived in Buenos Aires marking the main objective of their South American tour. A flag-draped train carried them from El Palomar airport while 25 Argentine army planes escorted them. a large crowd welcomed them in the hot sun after their Mar del Plata landing.

Aid sped through the North Atlantic tonight toward the British steamer Rosalind stranded halfway between St. John’s Newfoundland and Halifax. The vessel carrying 35 passengers lost her propeller in a squall and lies helpless.
The forecast calls for generally fair conditions in Montana on Friday and Saturday. Friday will be somewhat warmer across southern and eastern portions, while remaining mild elsewhere.
