Milwaukee court heard Walter Pyter and his wife Evelyn explain a quarrel over the card game 500 that led to an assault charge. Judge Harvey L. Neelen urged the couple to reconcile over the game, hearing details of the domestic dispute and noting hopes for a compromise by May 3.
Alf Engen of Sun Valley won the Montana Class A ski jumping title on the Wraith hill near Silver Lake with jumps totaling 231.9 points. Casper Oimoen of Anaconda was second with 225.3 points and H Sather of Spokane took third with 219.8. The event featured floodlights and a torchlight ski pageant drawing a large crowd despite frigid temps.

Jewelry business Fred P. Young's store reported a theft of fifty two rings averaging several carats each and three wrist watches. Entry was gained by breaking the front show window with concrete. Police said an investigation is underway.

Washington reports 421000 officers and men will undergo intensive field training this year in what may be the largest peace time maneuvers for the Army. A record 6893910 dollars is set aside for most costs, with General Malin Craig seeking further increases from Congress. He stresses that maneuvers with large troops and air forces, collaborating with the Navy, are essential to ready the Army for national defense. The First Army will lead the largest training effort.
