Silent on shooting probe as 14-year-old survives wound
Anaconda authorities delayed comment on a shooting incident that left 14-year-old Don Maes wounded in the right shoulder. He was treated in Great Falls after a shotgun blast at 1612 W. Park in Anaconda, where another 14-year-old, John E. Allen, died. Maes was flown to Butte then Great Falls for surgery. Coroner Arthur A. Longfellow said Maes had about a 50 50 chance of survival.
