President Nixon, in Paris for talks with Charles de Gaulle, urged ending old disputes and building a new Western purpose. The Elysee meeting lasted 2 hours and 10 minutes with only interpreters present, described as frank and cordial.
A Walter Reed bulletin says the 78 year old former president rests comfortably and remains stable as pneumonia worsens his heart strain after abdominal surgery. The Pentagon reported pneumonia in the right lung base with a restless night and overall weakness.
In Los Angeles on Friday Sirhan Bishara Sirhan declared he wished to plead guilty to assassinating Senator Robert F. Kennedy and seek execution. The judge rejected the plea and ordered Sirhan to sit down amid interruptions as defense counsel were not allowed to quit.
Gov. Forrest Anderson approved bills expanding state law enforcement communications and upgrading the unemployment agency name to Employment Security Commission. He backed long range bonds to 18 million, juror pay to five dollars, and continued highway study funding. He also supported permanent agency operations and licensing board funding while saving a railroad staffing bill for further debate.

Montana sues five drug suppliers under the Sherman Act alleging monopoly and price restraint since 1953. Defendants include Pfizer Ameri can Cyanamid Bristol Myers Olin Mathieson and Upjohn with charges of concealed conspiracy and non competitive pricing. The state seeks treble damages but no specific sum is named.

Montana cities gain more state aid and budgeting power as the League of Cities and Towns reports nine proposed bills. Five approved, with one heading for passage, but higher minimum salaries for police and firemen raise city costs offset by beer tax revenue and budgeting flexibility. Auble, executive vice president, notes gains but full impact waits until budgets are in place. The league sought an all purpose levy with a 65 mill cap to replace multiple levies.
At the University of Maryland in College Park male students staged a series of nocturnal nude activities this week. Panty raid antics began Tuesday with a coed running naked along campus fringes. By Thursday nine men danced naked across campus, seven running together. two were solitary, one in a ski mask and orange socks. A midnight crowd outside a dorm challenged coeds to a nude foot race, but race attire remained minimal.

Silver Bow County probation officers say Butte and nearby areas are being hit by a drug ring. A 14 year old boy, first juvenile narcotics defendant in 32 years in the county, was sentenced to Pine Hills but probation suspended. The boy’s father accompanied him as officials note addiction and drug trafficking knowledge may hinder rehabilitation.
