Serbian officer shot by cousin in Park Street ambush
Policeman Nicholas Aleksich, 41, was shot and killed on Sunday afternoon in front of 40 East Park street as he walked toward the police station. Eli Martinovich, the confessed killer and cousin, was arrested 30 minutes later on South Arizona street. Witnesses described Martinovich firing three times, after lying in wait in front of the Montana bar. he reportedly expressed pleasure at Aleksich’s death and mentioned attempting to kill another local.

Dr. D. E. Rainville 72 longtime county physician died in a Helena hospital after an operation five weeks earlier. Born in Quebec he moved here 23 years ago leaving a wife son and daughter in Canada. The funeral will be Wednesday at the Eagles hall and then at the Catholic church with the body lying in state in the Miners union hall tomorrow and Tuesday.
Peaches the Yearling Cougar Traps Owner Under House
In Albuquerque on February 23 Peaches a five-foot yearling cougar eluded gun or pole during an under house hunt by machinist Glenn A. Valentine. After a two week standoff Peaches remained arbiter of the lair while Valentine planned a trap with a baited cage and possibly a high pressure water spray. Fuzzy the dog and Valentine escaped with minor scrapes.

Widow Mourns Slain Policeman Aleksich in Butte
Mrs Dorothy Aleksich, widow of Policeman Nicholas Aleksich, sobbed as Eli Martinovich was arrested for the officer’s slaying.
