MISSOULA AP A Helena man working with a mobile home crew suffered severe burns Wednesday after contact with a high voltage line. James Haag was burned over a large part of his body while helping move the mobile home, and officials were unsure how the incident occurred.
Anderson defends 1972 Montana constitution ruling
Gov. Forrest H. Anderson filed a seven page defense with the Montana Supreme Court arguing that a valid majority of voters approved the 1972 constitution in the June 6 election. He relied on an historic court interpretation that a majority of those casting valid ballots determines approval. The challenge by Cashmore and Burger questions whether 118,801 voters, or half plus one of 237,600 electors, ratified the document.

Float building starts for Butte Fourth of July parade
Workers pounded away at the City Corral to build superstructures for about 30 floats for Butte’s Fourth of July celebration. Upwards of 40 floats and decorated cars expected, with bands, twirlers, drum corps, and civic groups planned. The parade forms Tuesday at Granite and Wyoming. route to be announced Sunday. Mayor Micone says fundraising is slow but plans a great celebration with community help. A fireworks display is not planned, but many other events will entertain. The children’s fishing derby is set for Saturday at Homestake Lake.
