Former Butte Photographer Recalls Big Moment with Dawes Pershing

E. R. Trabold long connected with the Anaconda Standard and a noted Butte photographer won a second prize from American Legion Monthly for a piece detailing his encounter with General Dawes and General Pershing in Nebraska. He describes filming from a private train, lunching with the generals, and Pershing recognizing him as a First Division veteran during a hunting trip.

Youth Ends Life When Career On Stage Is Denied

The 17 year old Edward L Root Jr son of a Chicago theater manager was found hanged in his grandparents attic in Portland Oregon. The coroner said his despondency stemmed from shattered hopes for a dramatic career after his grandparents refused to let him return to Chicago for stage study. He had graduated with honors from a Portland high school and his father had offered to help but the offer was declined. New highway work in Czechoslovakia is giving work to many unemployed.
