Pet lion mauls Seattle boy in Montana mountains

Keith Schreiner, 10, of Seattle, was injured when he put his arm into the cage of Atlas, a 600 pound African lion kept as a house pet by Gail Hjelm in Hamilton area. Atlas grabbed the arm, tearing it, after which the boy underwent surgery at a Missoula hospital and was reported in satisfactory condition. Authorities warned against handling the lion and said rabies checks would follow.
