Roosevelt Renominated by Acclamation at Democratic Convention

Franklin D Roosevelt was renominated by acclamation at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The vote-free nominating process ended amid cheers as John Nance Garner was slated for vice president and Roosevelt prepared to campaign from Franklin Field with a platform favoring constitutional amendments if needed.

Holt Seeks Lasting Cure For Drought

Governor Elmer Holt urged President Roosevelt to send a personal representative to Montana to devise a permanent drought solution. He named a Montana delegation for a drought conference in St Paul with Dr. W. J. Butler J. C. Taylor and Joseph E. Watson attending, plus state WPA chief Joseph Parker. Cannibal grasshoppers reported as additional concern as railroads await rate reductions.

Eagles State Convention Closes With Officer Elections

The 34th annual Fraternal Order of Eagles state convention in Butte will end today after electing officers and naming the 1937 conclave site. Delegates and visitors enjoyed sightseeing and an open air drum and bugle contest, with drill teams and district delegations competing as results are announced.

New Pro Japanese Government Set Up in Inner Mongolia

A new military government under Japanese domination has been established in Inner Mongolia, independent of the Nanking Central China government. The seat is at Chiapussu on the Chahar Suiyuan border, with Prince Tech named commander.

Butte Miner Fatally Struck by Car on Arizona Street

Butte miner Joseph Fuginoi about 50 of 435 South Ohio street died after stepping into a car on the 200 block of Arizona street. Irvine Carlson driver of the car rushed him to St James hospital where he died minutes later. Carlson said he was traveling about 25 mph when the man stepped from the curb.
