Four Flyers Missing After Army Plane Crashes Into James River
Langley Field officials reported an Army plane returning from Baltimore with four men aboard crashed into the James River near Rushmere. Lieut H W MacKelean, Lieut L Horwath, Privates J J Sayre and W Olive were aboard. A parachute with unpulled cord and two suitcases were found. Seaplanes and boats searched the scene, but no trace of the occupants was recovered. The craft left Baltimore at 8 20 p m and was reported seen plunging into the water around 10 30 p m. The plane was located about a mile offshore, tail near the river bottom.
