Danish patriots blew up Denmark’s biggest armament plant at Copenhagen’s free harbor delaying German production. The attack prompted martial law in Copenhagen as 80 Danish saboteurs destroyed the Dansk Industri Syndikat works used for machine guns and anti tank guns. Germans imposed military rule to hasten trials for the Copenhagen underworld and to hamper sabotage, with rebuilt facilities unlikely for six months. Also 80,000 Italian partisans were said to be gathering near Bologna while French Interior forces hindered Nazi reinforcements on the Belfort Paris railway.

Carrier Task Force Claims 82 Planes Downed Near Tokyo

Butte Soldier Misses Gallantry Yet Receives Medals
Pfc. Thomas L. O'Con nor of Butte earned the Purple Heart for wounds in North Africa on January 9 1943 and the Silver Star for El Guettar in Tunisia on March 31 1943. His family learned of the awards when the War department sent the medals and citations this week. Overseas since December 1942 with an Army tank destroyer battalion he fought in North Africa Sicily and Italy and was transferred to England early this year. He is believed to be in combat in the present invasion of France.
