Administration leaders expressed cautious optimism as western senators ended a six day filibuster to allow a Monday vote on Senator Pittman s amendment to set the Treasury silver price at 1 27 an ounce for domestically mined silver. The move follows a request by Majority Leader Barkley to bring the bill to a vote at 12 30 p m Eastern Time.

Exchange Club gathering unites stateside in Butte

The Exchange Club met in Butte for a two day session to strengthen fellowship and discuss citizenship and preparedness. L C Kimball urged public awareness of national matters while noting the event had no major business planned. Delegates from Idaho Utah and four Montana clubs attended along with a luncheon at the Finlen hotel.

Anaconda Opens Four Day Golden Jubilee Celebration

Anaconda kicked off a four day Golden Jubilee with a character filled parade and carnival. King Fun led grotesque and colorful figures as bands played and drums rolled through downtown. Thousands lined Main Street for a 7 pm start and a Sunday parade is planned with large delegations from Butte and Anaconda and more than 40 floats.

Medical Men of Late To Meet Here This Week

Butte hosts two allied groups the Montana State Health association and the Medical Association of Montana. The health meeting led by Dr E M Porter Miss Alice West and Dr W F Cogswell will draw about 300 visitors including health officers nurses water works operators and milk inspectors. The events run tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday through Friday with the Montana health group crying out for public health conservation experts.

Edwin Carruth Dies at 73 in Great Falls

Edwin C. Carruth 73 longtime Montana Democratic leader and state manager of the Home Owners' Loan Corporation died in a Great Falls hospital of pneumonia after illness since Tuesday.
