Airliner hijacked with 21 held. ransom demanded

An American Airlines flight with 101 aboard was hijacked to circle St Louis as the armed suspect demanded 502000 in cash and parachutes. FBI said 14 men, 4 flight attendants and 3 crew were onboard. no injuries reported. Flight 119 originated in New York en route to Tulsa.

East Helena zinc plant sold to ASARCO

Anaconda Co. announced the sale of its Zinc Fuming Plant at East Helena to American Smelting and Refining Co. The transfer takes effect July 3. ASARCO plans to continue operations with about 70 workers, avoiding plant closure and maintaining Montana economic output. No price was disclosed.

Jimmy Heinz a 10 year old Hodgkin’s disease patient in Aurora Illinois worked between treatments to build a prize winning tricycle. He finished the project Saturday and won first prize before returning to University of Illinois Hospital where he remained on the critical list.
