Helena June 22 Montana becomes the first state to exceed its Seventh War Loan E bond quota. State War Finance Director A T Hibbard reports Montana surpassed the 16 million quota and set a record as the leading E bond purchaser. It also exceeded its overall 35 million target with a total of 50.5 million, beating Mississippi in the race.
San Francisco reports Chairman Connally predicts the Senate will ratify the United Nations charter with a comfortable edge. British action is assured and hearings in the Foreign Relations Committee are slated for mid July followed by a month of debate as experts expect a final vote by early September.
Four new walkouts in New York pushed national labor idle workers toward 75 000 as 8 700 individuals in aircraft chemical rubber and artillery fuse industries joined fresh strikes. Chicago truck drivers resumed work after a week idle and 2 500 Harvester workers returned after four days. Goodyear strike in Akron prompted a War Labor Board hearing. Briggs Detroit plant protested meat shortages and Pittsburgh plate glass workers and Libbey Owens Ford glass employees joined the wide glass industry walkout.
Canon City Colorado report states Howard C. Sonny Potts aged 42 a Denver shipping clerk who confessed to stomping his wife to death for not having a chicken dinner ready died in the state penitentiary gas chamber Friday night.

Three year old Myra Lee Johnson was killed in the farmyard north of Nashua when struck by a car driven by her aunt Fay French 14. Valley County Coroner J A Holland said the aunt could not stop in time. The child’s father Arnold French is with the Army overseas and her mother lives at the farm.
An Allied commission announced rival Polish factions have reached accord on a reorganization plan approved by Russia the United States and Great Britain The plan envisions a coalition government with the Socialist Peasant and Workers parties and includes representation for Christian Labor and other Democratic parties Former Polish Premier Stanislaw Mikolajczyk has joined the provisional government The agreement aligns with the Soviet position that the present Polish government remains the nucleus of any future regime

The House appropriations committee approved a 38.5 billion dollar supply bill for the War department to fund plans to devastate Japan at the earliest date. Army leaders testified of sending 1 000 B 29 bombers daily over Japan by summer’s end and dropping 166 000 tons of bombs monthly starting next March. General Marshall warned of the high cost of continuing the war as the bill moves to House consideration.
United Press War Correspondent Franz Weisblatt received the Purple Heart in New York at the hospital of special surgery. He is recovering from thigh bone surgery after a January 1942 Philippines injury from a Japanese bullet. His wound remained untreated during 37 months at Bilidid prison camp, causing the bone to heal at an angle and shorten his leg by three inches.
Boy Scout drive announced by August Grunert and Ward Thompson aims for 200000 pounds of paper and 50000 pounds of rags to aid the war effort. Collections start Saturday in business districts and Sunday in residences. materials must be prepared and placed on curbs with specific bundling and packing rules.

First Lt. Robert Thomas Reed, 26, was reported missing over Europe on May 10 in a telegram to his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Reed of Anaconda. Reed, a 1943 commissioned test pilot for the Eighth Air Force, had been in Europe for two years and recently met his brother, S/Sgt. John H. Reed, a B-24 tail gunner, in Italy.
