Helena June 20 The path to the gallows was cleared for William Clarence Cates to be executed July 7 after Attorney General Nagle ruled for Governor Holt that no further re sentencing is needed. Cates killed Paul Read a federal prohibition investigator during an arrest in Missoula in 1933. He has received six reprieves from Governor Cooney.
