Woman charged in vehicular homicide case near Livingston

Esperanza Montoya 18 faces felony vehicular homicide and child endangerment charges after a Dec. 15 crash northeast of Livingston in a 2015 Ford Explorer. A 50-year-old named Vanetta Montoya died. a 12-year-old passenger was treated. Blood test showed 0.139% BAC and marijuana. Recorder data indicated 99 mph just before the crash. Bond set at $100,000.

Montana lawmakers weigh cap on new dispensaries through 2027

Lawmakers questioned a draft cap to limit marijuana dispensary licenses to existing holders through 2027. The plan, backed by providers, would allow license transfers but forbid new outlets until after the period. Fire season forecast: Wetter than expected in Montana

Montana forecasters say this summer’s fire season should be generally normal due to spring moisture easing a harsh winter snowpack. Northwest and southwest Montana may see higher fire growth risk, with La Nina shifting to La Nia later in summer, aiding precipitation and firefighting resources including a Chinook helicopter for initial and extended attack starting July 1.
