Camera use rises but holdouts remain in policing

A civil rights suit alleges Sheriff deputies in Sullivan County Tennessee tackled and arrested 61 year old Fritz after she urged mask use and distancing during COVID 19. The case notes no video exists as the sheriff’s office lacks body cameras though a statewide survey shows most agencies have both body and dash cameras. The investigation surveyed 170 agencies with 93 reporting both camera types.

Fort Belknap water settlement bill reintroduced in Senate

Montana leaders push a $1.3 billion Fort Belknap Indian Community Water Rights Settlement Act to ratify the 2001 compact and fund Missouri River water development. Senator Jon Tester and bipartisan allies back the measure with Gov. Gianforte and Representatives Zinke Rosendale backing the effort after years of negotiations with the Fort Belknap Indian Community and Milk River users.
