Anaconda Copper offers eighty cent daily wage rise
Negotiations between Anaconda Copper Mining Co and the joint committee of locals from Butte Anaconda and Great Falls plus International Union reps continued Thursday. The company proposed an across the board wage increase of 10 cents per hour, effective July 1 1955, contingent on refer endum approval by union members in the three cities. The offer aims at an early settlement and is stated as a full and complete settlement of all current demands. June 16 1955 Anaconda Copper Mining Co representatives emphasized the desire for a quick agreement.

Airliner crash near Asuncion leaves 13 dead or missing
U S correspondent John Graham Dowling and 13 others were killed or unaccounted for when a Panair do Brasil four engine Constellation crashed in fog near Cuatro Mojones while landing at Asuncion. Only 10 aboard survived. 3 of 10 crew were accounted for. Dowling, 41, Time Magazine bureau chief, was en route from Sao Paulo to Buenos Aires. Hungry Horse Boy Drowned in Pool
Nine year old Dewey Gilham drowned in a deep pool at the junction of the Flathead River while wading with sister Sheron. Coroner Sol Catron said he could not swim and was recovered from 20 feet of water at 2:30 p.m by Flathead Life Saving and Rescue. The boy, son of Mr and Mrs Alvin Gilham, had recently moved to Hungry Horse from Browning. The pool formed when gray material was removed during Hungry Horse Dam construction.

Dixon- Yates Project Passes House
The House approved the Dixon Yates power project and sent a 1.37 billion dollar bill to the Senate to fund the next fiscal year's government public works. It rejected funds for a new TVA plant at Fulton Tennessee and expanded allocations for reclamation river and harbor and flood control projects.
