More than 3,000 persons attended the fourth annual Butte Pioneers club picnic at Columbia Gardens. Extra streetcars served the crowds, and ideal weather helped a matinee dance in the pavilion. Judge Frank L. Riley chaired, J Bruce Kremer spoke to an ovation, and Judge J J McNamara led music with James Chatham singing. Sporting events crowned with 100 yard dashes for various age groups and winners listed.

Burke hunted again as police seek Chicago killer
Chicago police resumed a rain soaked search for Fred Burke known as the super slayer and arch fiend after reports he hid in the Pawpaw lake region of Michigan near St Joseph. Authorities say Burke is linked to many Chicago crimes over ten years and suspected in the Bonner murder. A ten man unit led by Lieut John McGinnis headed for the Pawpaw area as the manhunt continued across the region.

Portland youth confesses to burning murdered secretary
James M. Mitchell, a Portland stationery clerk, confessed to the murder of Lillian R. MacDonald a 20 year old secretary. Miss Margaret Downey 90 of 1019 West Porphyry street died yesterday at St James hospital from a skull fracture after slipping and falling near her home Saturday. She had lived with Mr and Mrs W F O'Brien for 12 years and was born in Ireland moving to Butte in 1893. She is survived by a sister in law and several nephews and nieces.

Three Die in Kansas City Area Auto Bus Collision
Three people were killed and five hurt when two cars and a bus collided near Lawrence Kansas City bound bus. The deceased include Mr and Mrs C E Leinbach and Mrs W E Stickle of Kansas City Kan.
