Butte man Joshua Michael Ott faced a five year prison term under a plea deal for brandishing a shotgun and assault with a weapon. sentencing was postponed while his attorney was unavailable and two last minute requests emerged. Ott asked for a new attorney and to withdraw his guilty plea. Judge Rob ert Whelan required formal motions and said he would not address the request in open court. Ott previously made headlines in 2020 after a crossbow shooting incident in Butte.
