Events begin 10 a.m. with a first aid contest by Anaconda Co. offering 738 dollars to top teams, followed by free ice cream and ride tickets for children. Anaconda Workers seek NLRB election for clerical locals
ANACONDA United Steelworkers filed with the National Labor Relations Board in Seattle to organize a local for the clerical and technical staff at Anaconda Reduction Works. Larry Marshall, USW staff representative, announced the petition saying action is expected soon. The union says it represents over 60,000 clerical and technical workers nationwide and notes the Anaconda clerical staff has no prior representation. USW recently won an election to represent local mill and smelter workers.

Fire damages MISCO Mills grain elevator at Deer Lodge
Two fire crews from Deer Lodge and Race Track fought a blaze at MISCO Mills Co. grain elevator in Deer Lodge Tuesday night. The 60 plus foot wooden structure sheltering grain, feed, seed and heavy machinery was brought under control by 10:30 p.m. Windows were broken to vent pressure and water pressure was boosted by the Race Track unit. Authorities cited possible causes as spontaneous combustion or electrical line failure. Lloyd West of Teslow, Inc. operated the mill and was on site.

Water Pipeline Under Way To Concentrator
Construction has started on a 34 inch steel pipeline to carry water from Anaconda to the Anaconda Co concentrator in Butte. Wes Maddox said the plant will use 2,000,000 cubic feet of fresh water daily and 30,000,000 reclaimed water, with final completion in 1964 and about 320 workers on site.
