Quake Lake Road Closed After Madison Canyon Flood

A nearly three-quarter mile section of Montana 287 in Madison Canyon was washed out by Madison River flooding. Officials closed the road between the Quake Lake visitor center and Hebgen Lake as erosion damaged the outlet channel of Quake Lake. Hebgen Reservoir was at capacity from heavy spring snow melt. A portion of the road washed out Wednesday but reopened to one-way traffic.

Billings Youth Elected Boys State Governor

Steve Corning of Billings Frontier Party won the 1970 Montana Boys State governor title after a tight statewide election.
