Lewistown reports the death of William Bill Burnett age 91 a member of the Vigilantes and early Montana pioneer who helped bring order to the northwest He died Monday night from injuries suffered in an auto accident last October He had been treated at Mayo Clinic Rochester Minn and returned home Burnett came to Montana from Texas in the 1870s Survivors include son Clint Burnett who runs the family ranch and Jane a longtime rodeo performer
In Dubuque Iowa on June 10 the Canfield hotel fire death toll rose to 17 as searchers found another unidentified body in a fourth floor room. The unaccounted list fell to 13 as Fire Chief Perry Kirch said the badly burned man was found under debris with a charred prayer book in his hand.
