Jimmy Mattern leaves Delovo for Krasnoyarsk seeking a round the world record. He had been sick from fumes but plans the next leg once he is well. Repairs at Krasnoyarsk will be completed to restore the plane.
More than 250 delegates and their guests gathered for the Lions district convention opening. International president Charles H. Hatton of Wichita is due at noon and will speak at the closing banquet. A parade route change was announced with a Treasure Hunt promotion by Butte merchants.
Washington reports a massive investor response exceeding five billion dollars for a 900 million dollar combined treasury note and certificate issue. Officials note the books closed with only small amounts remaining. this marks the first gold clause repeal period without gold payment language, seen as support for current fiscal policy amid strong market confidence.

The industrial control bill survived its second test vote in the night Senate session as proponents defeated a bid to strike out the control section. The 49 to 31 tally kept the provision regulating production hours and wages intact. Senator Clark of Missouri led the attack to remove the section.
Mrs Irene Burns of 746 South Main street will represent the regional courts of the Womens Catholic Order of Foresters at the quadrennial convention in Chicago this August. Burns is a member of Butte county No 958 and was chosen by 125 delegates at a one day regional gathering here yesterday. More than 150 members from Butte Anaconda Bozeman Miles City Great Falls Missoula Lewis town Coeur dAlene and Pocatello Idaho attended the banquet at the Lockwood Tuesday night which closed the district meeting.
A Washington dispatch reports A V Dalrymple appoints Lambert O Shirley to succeed Maurice Smith as prohibition administrator in Montana. Maurice Smith transfers to Helena as deputy administrator while Sam Roberts shifts to investigation work. Roberts began with prohibition in 1927 after serving as deputy U S marshal.
The escape of James Mattern after a forced landing near Prokopievsk in Siberia left him about 43 hours behind the Post and Gatty record pace at 3 21 p m EST today. With roughly half the course remaining, the effort continued.
Great Falls officials announce a new fifth unit at the Anaconda Copper Mining zinc plant will open soon. It will provide part time work for 530 men, with 30 full time positions. A fourth unit began last week in May, also offering part time work for 50 men. All hires are former employees.
The Dallas News reports Mrs. Franklin D Roosevelt avoided confirming plans for Elliott Roosevelt to marry Ruth Googins of Fort Worth if his current wife pursues a Nevada divorce. The Fort Worth correspondent noted Elliott may establish residency in Nevada to allow a civil suit, per the article.
C A Pettet of Portland, Ore, American delegate at the Pacific Science congress, described a new metallurgical method claiming high recovery for each metal in an ore concentrate. The process uses an electric furnace with an oscillator to heat ore and target metals by their specific frequencies, allowing small, inexpensive plants at mines.
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt in an American Airways Ford tri motor plane stopped briefly at Fort Worth Municipal Airport at 7:30 p m before continuing to Little Rock. She plans a Memphis route via Columbus Pittsburgh and New York with a New York arrival expected tomorrow morning. She will visit relatives in New York and Groton school next youngest.
Topeka June 8. C B Merriam a Topeka banker and member of the federal home loan bank board predicted that one dollar wheat and 70 cent corn in the Middle West would be seen by January 1.

Stuart Bingham named manager of the Helena agency branch of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. Telegram from Washington announced the appointment. he will assume duties June 16. Bingham, son of Mrs. J. Bruce Kremer, has six years banking experience, two as office manager at Paxon & Rockefeller Drug Co., and earlier with Green's Inc. He studied business administration at the University of Pennsylvania and will keep his home in Butte, commuting weekends from Helena.
Cordell Hull and the American delegation arrived in London to attend the world economic conference. Hull said war debt would not be discussed and the group would limit themselves to the agenda. They checked into a west-end hotel and began unpacking fifty boxes of archival records.
