Secretary of Navy John L Sullivan told Duquesne University graduates that Russia commits ruthless aggression akin to Nazi Germany and warned against appeasement. He cited Latvia Lithuania and Poland as democratic losses under communist pressure and urged firm U.S. action to defend democracy.
The York Rite session drew about 600 attendees as Helena’s saxophone sextet played, Mrs. Charles Dobbs and others sang, Carrie Worcester pianist, Robert Teckman accompanied, and hymns filled the service. A recent county meeting saw over 50 landowners pledging not to sell more land, while Hutterite leaders say a colony needs 4 060 acres per group. Fabrick estimates three colonies currently hold about 2 000 tillable acres.
Coroner G J Waller announced Sunday that Lou Longacre's death near Navajo was accidental. The farmer's body was found behind his car half a mile west of Flaxville with a rifle bullet wound. A coroner's jury had earlier deemed the death accidental. Longacre was buried at Flaxville. his widow survives.

Two Butte children, Donald Shelton age two and Linda Lee Bulch age three, sustained minor injuries in local vehicle incidents Sunday night. Shelton tripped on a Butte City Lines bus near his home around 9 pm, receiving a scalp laceration. Bulch was jolted from her seat during a sudden stop in a family car around 8 pm, sustaining a minor eye area contusion. Both were treated and released from St. James hospital.
Fire swept through a wooden shed at 10 East Casey street about 9 o clock Sunday night burning one wall of a nearby house. City firefighters arrived to find the shed destroyed and the wall of the house burning but quickly controlled the blaze, saving the rest of the building.
Charles Ardisson of 24 East Granite reported his billfold containing $20 was stolen while in an East Broadway street establishment late Saturday night. Ardisson could not detail the thief but suspected a pickpocket.
