Astronaut Edward H. White II floated 20 minutes 135 miles above Earth during a spacewalk while a planned satellite rendezvous was aborted due to insufficient maneuvering fuel in the Gemini capsule. The mission, intended to last four days, featured the dramatic excursion as its highlight.
Report recounts astronauts Edward H. White II James A. McDivitt and capsule communicator Virgil Grissom as White floats outside the Gemini 4 capsule near the California coast. Conversations include requests for photographs and observations of smeared views and exterior coating.
White and McDivitt floated above Texas during the Gemini 4 flight. Ground controllers guided a space walk marked by banter and a televised, time pressured ascent from Cape Kennedy with Johnson watching.
President Johnson calls for a radical coinage change replacing silver with nickel and copper in dimes and quarters while reducing silver in half dollars to 40 percent. The silver dollar and non silver coins stay the same. Legislation sought for early next year with minimal changes in coin appearance.

A student nurse from St. Vincent's Hospital died in a two car crash in Billings. Police reported the accident occurred in a west end residential area at the corner of Lith and Avenue F.
