Fire hits Glasgow downtown Rundle Building causing $100000 loss

A blaze in Glasgow’s three story Rundle Building, housing Glasgow Hotel and Tork’s Drug Store, caused an estimated $100000 damage. About 100 people fled as smoke and water damaged cafe and restaurant forcing closures while the drug store owner cited $40000 in drug losses and a one to six week closure.

Indian Crash Kills 29- 6 Americans

An Indian Airlines DC3 crashed in northwestern India killing all 29 aboard including six Americans. The Laverty family from Champaign Illinois and another American, Miss P Hardman, were identified among the victims. Laverty, 40, was an associate professor of soil studies teaching at Balwant Rajput College in Agra under an American aid contract.
