Anselmo Outfit Leads Class A in Inter-Departmental First-Aid Contest

The Anselmo mine first-aid team won top honors in class A with 597 points, besting Leonard and others as the two-night event closed at Butte high school gym. The Badger State mine team took class B with 585 points, earning trips and prize money.

Montana Leaders Gather in Butte for Evans Rites

Funeral services for L. O. Evans, longtime general counsel for the Anaconda company and prominent Butte philanthropist, will be held at 11 o clock this morning at the Evans family residence 849 West Galena street with Bishop Faber officiating and Masons and Elks rites to follow. The body arrived from the coast as officials including C. F. Kelley and family were in attendance.

The Rev. Father Vincent Kavanagh celebrated his first mass at Immaculate Conception Church with a full house of friends and visiting clergy. Butte opens boys and girls baseball league season

Public and parochial grade school teams in Butte begin six league races today with three boys divisions and three girls divisions. All girls games are at the Cinders while Class A boys play at Hebgen park and other boys leagues at Parrot flats. B J Gunderson of the Y M C A announced hundreds will participate in this city wide program.

Arguments On Gas Tax Law Heard By Montana Supreme Court

Helena June 2 Nearly four hours of oral argument were heard by Montana's supreme court on referendum 35 the highway financing plan. The case questions if issuing warrants in anticipation of gasoline tax receipts complies with the constitution and statutes. Attorneys noted a separate three million dollar bond bill voted last November will face the court later this month.

Ten Men Harmed in Ford Plant Blast in Dallas

Ten workers were seriously burned in two explosions at the Ford motor plant basement power house slush pit in Dallas. Gasoline leaked, ignited by a spark, igniting debris as a second blast followed. Gang Bandits Sentenced After Early Morning Robberies

Lee Harrison 34 and Arnold Pietila 22 headed to Deer Lodge penitentiary for six years each after pleading guilty to highway robbery. They robbed two Butte men early Sunday, netting 7.50 and 0.30. Judge J J Lynch urged deterrence and noted charitable neighbors. Detectives Roe and Quirk arrested them within 20 minutes. both men admitted the crimes.

Hearst urges vast loan to revive prosperity and end prohibition

William Randolph Hearst in a radio address urged the government to borrow 35 billion dollars to restore prosperity and proposed paying the debt in five years by ending prohibition.
