Floods from the Arkansas river and its tributaries sweep across Pueblo to western Kansas leaving a muddy wake. Seven people are dead and others are missing as recovery efforts report four bodies found near Lamar including Mrs. Simon Gonzales of Las Vegas New Mexico.

Memorial Day Toll Tops 118 Across Nation
Automobile accidents killed at least 118 people during the Memorial Day weekend though the National Safety Council projected 270 would die on crowded holiday highways. The worst crash occurred near Richmond Virginia where six died when a car hit a lumber truck. A train strike near Youngstown Ohio killed three, and a 15 month old child died in Scituate Rhode Island when a car crashed into a rock.

Mont Mines holds 21 seniors to receive degrees Friday

Montana highway crews clear rock slides on Great Falls Helena road
In Wolf Creek canyon heavy rains caused several rock and dirt slides blocking the Great Falls Helena highway between Craig and Wolf Creek. Maintenance engineer Scott P Hart said slides are not serious and traffic can pass with care, with full clearance expected before noon tomorrow.

A three year old, Russell Johnson, was found safe after more than seven hours of searching in Elk Park valley near Trask. He wandered from his twin sister Diana at Waino Nieni ranch Saturday afternoon and called for his mother while trudging three miles through dense woods. The boy, with a blonde head and clinging to a branch, was unharmed.
