Mrs. Alda Marta wife of Jack Marta formerly a well known Butte resident and now tied to Fox Motion Picture production was drowned while trying to save a companion on a Canadian lake. The body was sent to California from Minot and her relatives in Meaderville plan to attend the funeral in Los Angeles next Monday.
Capone agrees to court bargain as Montana citizens invited to speak at pioneers convention in Butte. Prominent locals including Dean A L Stone Captain L P Sanders J M Sandbar II L L Callaway Miles J Cavanaugh and David Hilger set to address events. A 28 year old man from Texas visited Butte seeking employment. He has never worn shoes, traveled 14 months from Texas in a 10 gallon hat and buckskin vest. Disabled by a childhood accident he walked only after age eleven with help from a pony provided by family.
E D Murphy a well known Butte miner died after a falling tree struck him while battling fires at Herman Lake near the Deer Creek conflagration in the Koote nai forest. He lived at 28 Fast Quartz street in Butte and had recently gone to fight fires in Pend Oreille and Kootenai counties from the Missoula forestry office. Survived by his widow said to be in Oklahoma. Burial plans unclear.

In Barcelona on July 30 striking telephone operators used provocative picketing near the Plaza Catalina. They tore the clothes from a non striking operator in front of the telephone building, she fainted, and other workers fled the scene, fearing similar treatment.
