A flash explosion and ensuing fire tore through an 80 by 40 foot room on the first floor of a four story Butte hotel on East Broadway late Tuesday night. Firefighters rescued several occupants from upper floors using aerial ladders as residents fled through smoke filled halls and stairways. Damages ran into thousands of dollars though no serious injuries were reported.
