Attempt to Settle University Funds Dispute Postponed

Escapee Captured After Menace to Seattle Insurance Man

Man Hunted After Highway Robbery Near Deer Lodge
Charles B. Collins a Seattle insurance man, 53, was robbed on U S Highway 10 south of Deer Lodge. The bandit woke him and stole $80 and papers, then escaped in Collins’ car after threatening death. Police say the suspect is a prison escapee aided by a local roadblock. Collins was later to recover his vehicle as authorities closed in.

Washington July 27 The Defense department reports the largest casualty list yet in Korea numbering 113. It lists 11 killed in action 18 wounded one injured and 83 missing in action. Total casualties announced to date reach 904 with 76 killed eight dead of wounds 269 wounded 79 injured and 472 missing in action.

18 year old Bob Stevenson lay in a Montana hospital in very critical condition after a head injury from a ball during a game in Butte Tuesday night. He was flown to Great Falls for examination by neurosurgeon Dr. Alexander C. Johnson and operated on for a blood clot on the left side of his brain. He remained unconscious due to prolonged pressure.

Frank E. Denney manager of the State theater in Cut Bank is believed drowned after a storm overturned his fishing boat on St Mary lake in Glacier National Park. A three state Civil Air Patrol search for Lavina Montana flyer James E. Schanbacher ended when his body was found about 15 miles north of Victoria Kansas. Lt Col O A Morard said crash details were not available immediately. Schanbacher last was reported at Newton Kansas at 8 am Tuesday when he took off for Julesburg Colorado in his light plane.
