Four Are Killed in Bus Crash Near Lyle Washington
Four women died and bus driver Merle Nelson was critically injured after a collision on Evergreen highway near Lyle. The eastbound Washington Motor Coach with 38 passengers sideswiped a westbound furniture van, then hit a car driven by Jack Collins Jr. of Lyle. Collins and his family were unharmed. Several others were hospitalized in Hood River with serious or minor injuries. The deceased are Luella Aurit of Spokane Dorothy Rewine 23 of Bingen Hannah Langedal of Lewistown and Margaret Aurit of Spokane.
